The Exchange at Bayfront

Environmental Graphics

This residential property in Hercules, CA wanted to include multiple photographic murals that paid tribute to the town’s history and people. Hercules was known for the creation of its patented dynamite powder in the late 1800s and eventually became the biggest supplier in the U.S. by the 1900s.

On this project my team and I worked closely with the Hercules Historical Society to select photos from their library to use in these pieces. Each mural utilized a unique color palette to emphasize a different theme. The blue palette focused on the neighborhood and home life of residents, the black and white palette focused on work life, and the pink palette focused on the integration of work and home. The final photo murals were displayed in the exterior public areas of The Exchange at Bayfront.
